Good afternoon, esteemed Council!

This is Konrad Lamorok…

-What are you doing?

Konrad flinched and pulled his gaze away from the screen. He looked up, surprised, at the blonde who had come up behind him and was shamelessly peering over his shoulder.

- Writing a letter to the Council, - he replied shortly, turning back to the keyboard, trying not to lose his train of thought.

- Why? - Jane persisted, tilting her head.

Konrad let out an irritated breath but answered anyway:

- Do you remember our plan?

-Plan? What plan? - she frowned, clearly confused.

- I don’t have time to explain right now, - he muttered through clenched teeth. - Ask Travis.

- Ask me what? - came a calm voice from behind them.

Travis approached  as always, completely composed, his face almost unreadable.

- Why doesn’t Jane know about our plan? - Konrad turned to him slowly, barely hiding his irritation.

- Forgot to tell her, - Travis shrugged without the slightest hint of guilt.

- Wonderful… - Konrad sighed tiredly, closing his eyes for a moment.

- And what’s going on here? - Jess chimed in, appearing just as suddenly. - Plotting something again without me?

- You’re not the only one who doesn’t know anything, - Jane said dryly.

Jess, Jane, and Travis immediately got caught up in their own conversation. Their voices merged into a noisy stream right next to his ear laughter, questions, guesses. It quickly turned into an unbearable buzz.

Konrad clenched his jaw. His fingers froze above the keyboard. One more second and he snapped.

- Scatter. Now. All of you! - he barked, turning sharply.

The trio exchanged glances and quickly dispersed without arguing.

Silence returned to the room.

Konrad sank back into his chair, ran a hand over his face, and closed his eyes for a moment.

- Tea? - Jack asked quietly, having stood aside the whole time.

Konrad gave a tired nod.

- Yes… Thanks.
